Motor vehicle collison – driver assaulted

Belleville, Ontario – On June 13th, 2018, at 7:28 p.m. police attended at the scene of a motor vehicle collision on the Sidney Street overpass at the 401. According to witnesses the vehicles were initially travelling east on Hamilton Road in Quinte West. They continued onto Bell Blvd. to the Sidney Street overpass where they collided. At this point the drivers exited their vehicles and a fight took place. One of the drivers was knocked unconscious. Paramedics transported this male to BGH with serious head injuries. The overpass was shut down to allow traffic investigators process the scene. Members of the Criminal Investigation Branch and Forensic Identification Unit also attended. The roadway was re-opened by 11:30 p.m. Arrested at the scene was 41-year old Robert Lawrence of Belleville. He was charged with dangerous driving and assault causing bodily harm. He will appear in court on July 19th, 2018. Anyone who may have witnessed the driving or the assault is encouraged to call either Detective Jarvis or Constable Stitt at the Belleville Police Service.

 

Impaired Driver

Belleville, Ontario – On June 13th, 2018, at 10:08 p.m. police were alerted to an impaired driver on Bell Blvd. at Sidney Street. The vehicle was stopped and the driver was arrested. 59-year-old James Ryan of Belleville was charged with impaired driving and driving with more than 80 mgs. He will appear in court on June 28th, 2018. His car was impounded for seven days and his licence was suspended for 90 days.

 

Pedestrian struck in parking lot

Belleville, Ontario – On June 13th, 2018, at 5:46 p.m. police attended in a parking lot on Millennium Parkway as a pedestrian had been struck by a car. A woman was pushing a grocery cart when she was struck by a car. The grocery cart overturned and the woman suffered a laceration to her leg. She was taken to hospital by paramedics. There were no charges as the collision occurred on private property.

 

Bail Violations

Belleville, Ontario – On June 13th, 2018, at 2:06 p.m. at 2:06 p.m. officers attended on Bleecker Avenue with regards to a compliance check on a person serving a sentence through a conditional sentence order.  The 30 year-old-woman was not present. She was located later in the day and arrested. She was charged with breach of a recognizance and held for a bail hearing on June 14th, 2018.

 

Thefts

Belleville, Ontario – Belleville Police are looking to identify a young female who has been soliciting donations for various organizations in the City’s east end over the last month. During the soliciting the female has committed a number of thefts once in the homes. She is described as 14-15 years of age with blonde hair. She travels on a bicycle. Anyone with information can contact Constable Terpstra or Quinte Crimestoppers.

 

Theft of a vehicle

Belleville, Ontario – On June 13th, 2018, at 6:35 a.m. officers attended at a business on Dussek Street in relation to a stolen van. Tools and a generator were removed from one of the vehicles. Stolen was a 2005 Ford E250 van. It is white in colour with “Winmar” in blue lettering on the side. The licence plate # is 8404 VA (Ontario).
