Motor Vehicle Collisions

Belleville, Ontario – On September 16th, 2018, officers responded to three collisions within a 90-minute window.

On September 16th, 2018, at 5:02 p.m. police attended at a drive-thru at a restaurant in the City’s east end in relation to a vehicle that had failed to remain at the scene of an accident. The suspect struck the vehicle ahead of him in the drive-thru. The suspect attempted to drive away but struck the other vehicle a second time before leaving the scene. The vehicle was located and a short time later the driver appeared at the station. A 33-year-old Belleville man was charged with failing to report an accident. There were no injuries.

At 6:30 p.m. police attended on Dundas Street East at Foster Avenue in relation to a two-car collision. Paramedics attended to treat both drivers for minor injuries. A 49-year-old Belleville woman was charged with failing to stop at a red light. Both cars were towed from the scene.

At 6:49 p.m. police attended on Cannifton Road as a truck had struck a neighbour’s vehicle. The truck failed to remain at the scene. The investigation is continuing as a message was with the driver of the truck.

 

Youths identified in B&E’s

Belleville, Ontario – On September 5th, 2018 an alarm was triggered at a business on Wilson Ave.  The video, which was released to the media, showed 4 youths with their heads covered by hoodies. Information was received regarding their identities. On Sept. 14th, 2018 police responded to a mischief call at a Sidney Street business. A door had been damaged but the suspects fled on foot. Over the course of September 15th and 16th the investigators met with three youths and their parents. The youths were 14, 15, and 16 years of age. The youths and their parents entered into a youth diversion program in lieu of criminal charges. A fourth youth will be spoken to on Sept. 17th.
