Child Luring investigation leads to charges
On the 7th of May, as a result of a child luring investigation conducted by the Belleville Police Service’s Criminal Investigation Division, a 31-year-old male from Belleville was arrested and charged with one count of luring a person under sixteen years of age and one count of exposure to a person under sixteen years of age. The male was held for a bail hearing. The Belleville Police Service will not be releasing the name of the accused in order to protect the identity of the youth victim.
Police looking to identify persons responsible for graffiti downtown
On the 28th of April at approximately 1am, two people left a business near the north end of Front Street with a group of others. The two persons in the below photos then began to cause mischief to numerous buildings and locations throughout the downtown core by tagging “ZEB” on them. Thousands of dollars in damage has been caused. Police are continuing the investigation and are looking to identify the two people in the photos. Also attached are photos of the tagging. A business on Dundas St. East was also tagged with the same graffiti. The suspects are encouraged to turn themselves into police. Anyone with information regarding the identity of the two individuals or the tagging itself are asked to contact the investigating officer, Cst. A. Impaired Driving – Arrest
On the 9th of May at 12:03am, Belleville Police responded to the area of North Front Street for a report of an impaired driver. It was reported that the driver was travelling at excessive speeds and swerving in and out of lanes. Police located the suspect vehicle just north of the city and conducted a traffic stop. While speaking with the driver, police formed the grounds that the male driver was impaired by alcohol. Subsequently, the driver was arrested and transported to the Belleville Police Service to continue the investigation. At the conclusion of the investigation, 34-year-old Jamie Stevens of no fixed address was charged with impaired driving and over 80. Stevens was released on an Undertaking with a court date in June.
Arrested on Warrants
On the 8th of May at 8:05pm, a neighboring police agency arrested a 34-year-old female who was wanted on an endorsed arrest warrant held by the Belleville Police Service. The female was transported to the Belleville Police Service where she was released on an Undertaking for one count of domestic assault and two counts of fail to attend court. She was given a court date in June. The name of the female is not being released in order to protect the identity of the victim in the domestic assault.
